How Do I Start ?

Before beginning a new personal training programme, you will need to book an informal consultation and fitness assessment, where we will look at your medical history, exercise likes and dislikes, motivation, current fitness levels, previous fitness levels and goals. This will help me to get an idea of what type of exercise programme is right for you. 

The informal consultation is 60 -90 mins long and includes:


  • Lifestyle analysis

  • Health and fitness goals

  • Nutritional profile

  • Taking your blood pressure

  • Movement tests

  • PAR-Q form (Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire) - 7 short yes/no questions to confirm that it is safe for you to exercise without checking with your doctor first.

  • Client agreement - A short consent form to be read and signed by both client and PT

We can then create a programme with goals focusing on fitness, health or nutrition. i.e. running a 5k, building muscle, losing weight/body fat, or even climbing a mountain! Goals will help with your motivation, intention, desire, knowledge and confidence.

Every training session I design, will be driven by you, what you want to achieve and how you like to exercise. In your exercise programmes, as well as training cardiovascular fitness and muscular strength, we will also work on movement, reactions and coordination, all essential skills as part of a holistic training programme.

Extra Training

As well as training together, we can work on programmes and session plans for you to follow in your own time, at home, outside or in the gym. These extra sessions can help to keep you motivated and confident in these environments, and we can programme your training around the time you have, so even if you only have 10 minutes to spare we’ll work out something fun for you to do! 

For example, some people find the gym environment intimidating and tend to stick to cardio machines and stay away from weights or resistance training. With knowledge and experience you will gain the confidence you need to use the weights in your own time, without worrying about what other people think.

Tom's personal training sessions have been a revelation. He's incredibly knowledgeable about fitness and strikes the right balance between pushing you to your limits, while being sensible about knowing when to stop when training someone in their forties and beyond. After having never done any core strength work in my life, he's really helped with my posture, flexibility and strength. With just one session a week, I can already feel the difference. He's also great company - which matters when you're half an hour into a tough session!

Healthy Eating

In order to help you get fitter, stronger and more confident, we can also look at your diet. Healthy eating not only supplements an exercise programme to achieve results, but also benefits in general health and well-being.


Eating a well balanced diet can aid in weight loss, increase energy levels and help repair muscle tissue following exercise. I can even give you some tried and tested receipes to help you get all of the nutrients you need to kick start your training and energy levels!

I can also offer advice on plant-based diets and how to eat tasty, nutrient-packed vegan recipes to support your training goals.

Home gym

I’m based in Bounds Green N11. I can train you at home, work, or at your local park. Or, if you are local to me in N11, and would like to do more strength-based training using weights, I have a small gym in my garden office in Bounds Green. If you live outside of these locations travel charges may apply. Please contact me for more information.
